Intermediate-luminosity red transients: Spectrophotometric properties and connection to electron-capture supernova explosions

چکیده
We present the spectroscopic and photometric study of five intermediate-luminosity red transients (ILRTs), namely AT 2010dn, 2012jc, 2013la, 2013lb, 2018aes. They share common observational properties belong to a family objects similar prototypical ILRT SN 2008S. These events have rise time that is less than 15 days absolute peak magnitudes between ?11.5 ?14.5 mag. Their pseudo-bolometric light curves in range 0.5–9.0 × 10 40 erg s ?1 their total radiated energies are on order (0.3–3) 47 erg. After maximum brightness, show monotonic decline or plateau, resembling those faint supernovae IIL IIP, respectively. At late phases, flatten, roughly following slope 56 Co decay. If late-time power source indeed radioactive decay, these produce Ni masses ?4 ?3 M ? . The spectral energy distribution our sample, extending from optical mid-infrared (MIR) domain, reveals clear IR excess soon after explosion non-negligible MIR emission at very phases. spectra prominent H lines with typical velocity few hundred km , along Ca II features. In particular, [Ca ] ? 7291,7324 doublet visible all times, which characteristic feature for this transients. identified progenitor 2008S, luminous archival Spitzer images, suggests an intermediate-mass precursor star embedded dusty cocoon. propose super-asymptotic giant branch forming electron-capture supernova as plausible explanation events.

Neutrino Capture Induced Supernova Explosions
Motivated by the success of kinetic theory in the description of observables in intermediate and high energy heavy ion collisions, we use kinetic theory to model the dynamics of core collapse supernovae. The specific way that we employ kinetic theory to solve the relevant transport equations allows us to explicitly model the propagation of neutrinos and a full ensemble of nuclei and treat neutr...
متن کاملCosmic Explosions (optical Transients)
One of the principal motivations of wide-field and synoptic surveys is the search for and study of transients. By transients I mean those sources which arise from the background, are detected, and then fade away to oblivion. Transients in distant galaxies need to be sufficiently bright so as to be detectable and in almost all cases these transients are catastrophic events, marking the deaths of...
متن کاملProperties of stellar matter in supernova explosions and nuclear multifragmentation
During the collapse of massive stars, and the supernova type-II explosions, stellar matter reaches densities and temperatures which are similar to the ones obtained in intermediate-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. The nuclear multifragmentation reactions can be used for determination of properties of nuclear matter at subnuclear densities, in the region of the nuclear liquid-gas phase transit...
متن کاملSpectrophotometric properties of galaxies at intermediate redshifts ( z ~ 0 . 2 – 1 . 0 ) ⋆ II . The Luminosity
We present the gas-phase oxygen abundance (O/H) for a sample of 129 star-forming galaxies at intermediate redshifts (0.2 < z < 1.0). The sample selection, the spectroscopic observations (mainly with VLT/FORS) and associated data reduction, the photometric properties, the emission-line measurements, and the spectral classification are fully described in a companion paper (Paper I). We use two me...
متن کاملBi-polar Supernova Explosions
We discuss the optical spectropolarimetry of several core-collapse supernovae, SN 1996cb (Type IIB), SN 1997X (Type Ic), and SN 1998S (Type IIn). The data show polarization evolution of several spectral features at levels from 0.5% to above 4%. The observed line polarization is intrinsic to the supernovae and not of interstellar origin. These data suggest that the the distribution of ejected ma...
